Mrs. Sullivan apparently made quite an impression on the hospital staff during her stay. They speak of her in hushed tones as if something dreadful happened to her. In reality, it is unknown exactly what happened to Mrs. Sullivan, but it involved an enema bag. She shows up looking for it in Daria's room, apparently in perfect health.

During her brief time in the hospital, Daria had a dream in which the image of Mrs. Sullivan appeared to her as the Angel of Death. The dream Mrs. Sullivan described how she endured an agonizing death, and took Daria on a brief tour of Heaven. The tour ends with Daria being cast down into Hell for being a "brain".
