Professor Ventley gives a talk based on the idea that failure is not always a bad thing - indeed, failure can lead to growth. Most of Lawndale's teaching staff reacts negatively - Ms. Li with impatience, most of the rest with boredom - only O'Neill with enthusiasm. He takes this message to heart and immediately gives his students an assignment to fail at something - with predictably disastrous results.
