Episode Summary:
After Daria almost hits a dog during a driving lesson, Helen starts trying to talk her into getting contacts. Daria ojects at first but is obviously considering it. Upon finding out Aunt Amy wears contacts, she calls and asks her advice. After their talk, Daria decides to get contacts. People start treating her different, telling her how wonderful it is that she's finally opening herself up to people. Everything's alright at first, but after awhile they start hurting her eyes. The next morning, Daria can't wear the contacts because her eyes are still sensitive, but instead of wearing her glasses, she just goes without them. After spending the entire day stumbling and bumping into people, she starts to worry that she's become vain and shallow because she cares about how she looks. Finally she decides to go back to her glasses, claiming that with them, she can see things other people can't.


The Old And The Beautiful

Episode Summary:
Ms. Li requires Lawndale High students to participate in "Awareness of Others Week." Daria signs up to read to senior citizens, as do Kevin and Brittany. It turns out that, much like High School, Kevin and Brittany are popular there too. Daria stoops to taking perkiness tips from Brittany when she discovers that her monotone voice is making her unpopular with the senior citizens. Brittany tries to give Daria's voice more inflection, but it doesn't really work. Finally, Daria bonds with an elderly woman who can appreciate her company...because she's deaf. Meanwhile, The Fashion Club's efforts to collect clothes for the homeless fall flat when they refuse to accept any unfashionable donations.


Depth Takes A Holiday

Episode Summary:
A normal day for Daria turns abnormal when she runs into Cupid and the St. Patrick's Day leprechaun. They're looking for Christmas, Halloween, and Guy Fawkes' Day, who have seemingly escaped from Holiday Island. Daria learns that the three fugitive holidays have recruited Trent for their band. To prove to Daria that the whole thing is real, Cupid shoots her parents full of love. Somehow the fugitives talk Daria into letting them stay at her house, and since her parents are "preoccupied," they barely notice the new residents. Daria refuses to help until the holidays really start getting on her nerves and she finally agrees, just to get them out of her house. She gets the band a gig playing at the Holiday Island High prom. They play, after some resistance by the holidays, and thankfully, they decide to stay. Daria, Trent, and Jane leave Holiday Island, never to return again.


Daria Dance Party

Episode Summary:
Lawndale High is having a school dance, and Quinn gets roped into planning it. When the Fashion club, her dance committee, abandons her, she struggles to find someone to do all the work for her. Quinn passes the work off to Jane, who has been looking for a large canvas to showcase her artistic talents. She uses most of the dance funds on paint and creates a huge mural on the gym wall depicting a bloody car crash that killed artist Jackson Pollack. Sandi has decided to throw a party on the same night as the dance to show up Quinn, but her efforts backfire when the dance turns out to be a big hit while Sandi's party is a flop. Meanwhile, Kevin and Brittany have broken up again. Brittany ends up taking Robert to the dance instead, and Kevin attends Sandi's party. When he sneaks out of the boring party to go to the dance, he catches Brittany with Robert, and a huge fight ensues. Kevin beats up Robert, and he and Brittany get back together.


The Lost Girls

Episode Summary:
Val, the editor of a girl's teen magazine, comes to Lawndale High to spend a day with Daria after her essay, submitted by Mr. O'Neill, wins the "Spend a Day with Val" contest. The school is a buzz about the visit, except Daria. Val turns out to be a middle-aged woman trying to appeal to teens by acting and dressing young and trying to be "edgy." She annoys Daria while most of her fellow students vy for her attention. Val and Daria eventually come to blows verbally. Later, after Val departs, she writes and article for her magazine about Daria, calling her a "bummer" and labelling her as the "anti-teen."


It Happened One Nut

Episode Summary:
After Daria and Quinn take career aptitude tests at school, Helen pushes them to get jobs. Jake gets Daria a job at a nut stand at the mall while Quinn finds employment at a pet store. When Kevin ends up working at the same nut stand with Daria, humiliation ensues. Finally, Jane comes to her rescue and finds a way to get Daria out of her job. Quinn's job is also a bust when she loses control and the animals run amuck.

Episode Summary:
Singing and dancing abound in this musical episode! After a hurricane warning is issued, the students are sent home, but Daria and Jane get stuck on the roof of the school with Kevin and Brittany. Daria's family is safe at home. When they realize that Daria isn't there, her Dad calls Trent to find out if she's with Jane. Afraid Daria and Jane may not be safe, Jake and Trent venture into the storm to look for them, but Jake ends up ramming the car into a tree. The kids weather the storm and make it home safely. Daria and Jane are flattered to find that the men were worried about them. Everyone in town is ok after the storm, and they all come together for a final musical number to celebrate making it through the storm.


Lane Miserables

Episode Summary:
Jane's father, sisters, brother, niece and nephew all descend upon the Lane household at once. Their various problems cause tension in the house, so Jane and Trent end up staying with Daria for awhile. Daria is forced to deal with her feelings for Trent and feels a twinge of jealousy when she witnesses Trent going on a date with Monique. She imagines what life would be like with Trent. The mental picture is not a good one, and she starts to feel like she may be over Trent. After Jane's mom seeks advice from Helen on how to get her house back, the Lanes realize why they left in the first place and they all vacate the house. Jane and Trent return home, but not before Trent manages to undo all of the soul-searching that Daria had done while he was there.


Jake Of Hearts

Episode Summary:
Lame DJs Bing and the Spatula Man set up shop in front of Lawndale High, making life at school annoying and unbearable for Daria and Jane. Then, when Jake has a mild heart and Grandma Ruth comes to stay during Jake's recovery, Daria's homelife becomes even more unbearable. Ruth is bossy and overbearing and is very critical of Helen in particular. Daria finally gets fed up with both situations. After getting rid of the party van, she helps her dad realize that he's going to be ok and Grandma Ruth discovers that she's doing more harm than good by staying.


Speedtrapped

Episode Summary:
Jane is driving Mystik Spiral to a gig in Freemont when they are pulled over for a traffic violation and held until they can pay the fine. Jane calls Daria, who just got her license, and asks her to bring the money to them. Quinn decides to tag along and ends up driving for Daria when Daria's nervousness gets the best of her. Quinn recklessly gives Jane's money to a hitchhiking cowboy named Travis, and after Daria realizes this, they return to the bar where they dropped him off in hopes of getting the money back. Travis has already gone, but Quinn manages to persuade the bar patrons to donate the money to them. Meanwhile, Mystik Spiral and Jane meet some interesting characters in jail and end up at the Sheriff's daughter's birthday party, working off their debt to society performing songs and giving temporary tattoos to the kids.

Episode Summary:
Mysterious agents arrive at school looking for people who are "different." Rumors start to spread in the school that there are aliens among them. More specificially, the students start to believe that Daria and Jane are "atomic communists from Mars." After awhile, the weirdness of the other students in addition to strange behavior by Trent and the Fashion Club, starts making Jane and Daria paranoid as well. In the end, O'Neill holds a rally at the school to promote "tolerance," but once the students realize there are no aliens and that the mysterious agents were actually immigration officials, interest wanes and the rally is broken up. Daria and Jane discover the reasons behind the bizarre behavior that had plagued their town, and Lawndale returns to relative normalcy.


Just Add Water

Episode Summary:
Ms. Li has planned a casino night on a cruise ship, and of course, makes the whole thing manditory for all students. Quinn has a date with Marco, the talcum powder model and Jake is attending as well so he can work his marketing expertise on the owner of the ship. Helen reluctantly attends to support Jake. Once on the ship, Quinn realizes Marco is still not there and Sandi starts a humiliating rumor that Quinn has been stood up. Daria and Jane gamble away all their chips so they can spend the rest of their time sleeping. While Jake is trying to pitch to the ship's owner, Helen gets fed up with everything and leaves to go play poker. The owner's "nympho" wife keeps coming on to Jake. The pilot of the ship is drunk and leaves his post, letting the ship crash. Luckily, they are in shallow water and when everyone jumps overboard, they just have to stand up and walk away from it. In the end, Marco eventually show up after all, looking for Quinn. He instead finds the owner's wife and she drives away with him.


Jane's Addition

Episode Summary:
Mr. O'Neill makes an assignment where the students must make a multimedia project. Jane and Daria decide to work together, Daria doing words, Jane doing pictures, and Jane suggests asking Trent to do the music. While attending a Mystik Spiral gig at The Zen, Jane meets Tom and decides to go for a ride with him. In between sets, Daria talks to Trent about the project and he agrees to help out. While Daria and Jane are out for pizza, Tom shows up. Daria obviously has strong feelings against Tom and shows it. Tom gets mad and leaves, then Jane gets mad and leaves. Later, Daria is walking home and Tom drives up. He starts walking with her and they talk awhile. Daria is upset because she thinks Tom is taking her friend away, and Tom asks if they can at least try to get along, for Jane's sake. Eventually, the girls are forced to turn in their project with no music because Trent never finished it. He and Daria go out for pizza and he apologizes for not getting it done. After Trent leaves, Jane and Tom, who are at another booth, wave her over and they all three eat pizza together.
