POLLOCK, JACKSON
"When I am in my painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It's only after a sort of "get acquainted" period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own." |

Never made an actual appearance on the show. Jackson Pollock was immortalized in Jane's tribute dance where she repainted to gymnasium to resemble his horrific and fatal car accident, complete with blood-stain dance floor and disembodied hands gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. The décor was a big hit among Lawndale's students (with the exception of Quinn, who pretended to like it once she realized it was popular). Mr. Pollock was actually a real person, an abstract expressionist painter who would create seemingly random splash-like images through a technique he called "action painting". Jane's tribute painting, splashed all over the Lawndale High School gym, had this quality. The quote
above was not from the show, but rather an actual quote from Jackson Pollock during the height of his career.
