Professor Woods catches sight of Kay Sloane while she, Daria, and Tom are visiting Bromwell University. He seems enthusiastic about the possibility of Tom attending Bromwell, but barely speaks to Daria.

He invites them to stay for an early breakfast the next morning, despite the fact that they have to drive on to Boston to look at some other schools. This delay is part of what makes them too late when they finally do arrive at Boston.
