The Captain apparently has no qualms about piloting the Princess Fairy in an advanced state of inebriation - he goes straight from the bar to the pilothouse, so plowed that he can't even remember that he's the captain. One assumes that the owners of the ship (Lee and wife DeeDee) are either very stupid or very cheap to have hired such a man.

He actually does a fairly decent job of steering the ship, but then tries to get Jake to take over and walks out. Jake runs after him rather than taking the wheel, with the result that the ship runs into a passing garbage scow.
