Charlene Thompson, like her husband, dotes on her son Kevin and thinks very highly of him. She seems convinced that he is destined for college if only he can avoid the same mistake she and her husband made (i.e., her getting knocked up so Doug had to take a job straight out of high school).

She feels that Brittany is a tramp who isn't nearly good enough for Kevin. Brittany is utterly oblivious to this fact (surprise) even though Mrs. Thompson doesn't take many pains to hide it.
